372 Dear Mr. Dwyer: As you will recall, on Friday, January 5, I wrote to the membership telling them that we had hired Mr. Donald Banks to take over the responsibility of running our pool facilities next year. When I talked to him several days ago, he informed me that he had received a very good offer to join the faculty of Western State College and asked about the possibility of his being released from his contract with us. We naturally granted his request because we did not wish to stand in his way when an opportunity to improve himself presented itself.
At the moment, I myself do not know of anyone I can suggest for the position. If you should know of a person who you think has the qualities and the general ability necessary for the position, please call me immediately. Yours very truly, [161]
373 Dear Mrs. Hughes: Like many other people in the decorating business, we at Brown and Company employ designers who have ability, individuality, and exceedingly practical ideas. Unlike most other people in this business, though, we actually manufacture the various furnishings that we design. We have been doing this for more than 20 years.
Our organization is not the largest in the world. There are only 12 of us. We do all the work ourselves, and we enjoy what we are doing.

374 Dear Mr. Short: The credit departments of many organizations ordinarily concern themselves with only one type of customer, the one who usually does not pay his bills when they are due.
Here at Interboro Enterprises our credit department also concerns itself with another type of customer, the one who regularly buys substantial quantities of our imported sporting goods and pays every bill promptly.
You, of course, are the second type of customer.
Congratulations, Mr. Short, on the thoughtful way you meet your & financial responsibilities. If all our customers were as prompt in sending in their remittances as you are, my job would be a comfortable and easy one indeed. Very truly yours, [135]
375 Gentlemen: By now you have probably read the reports published in the newspapers regarding the route exchange we have arranged with International Airlines. This exchange is still subject to general review by government authorities. In our opinion, though, they will not object to it and will approve it soon.
As you can well imagine, we do not particularly enjoy giving up any market. We have built up for ourselves a reputation for quality and loyalty in the cities we have served throughout the years. But the financial realities leave us no choice. When the text of this agreement has been completed, we believe we will be able to achieve financial stability.
